Responsibilities

General Dynamics' Corporate Headquarters Compensation & Benefits department is looking for a Benefits Assistant to provide day-to-day administrative support to the Compensation & Benefits team.  As the Benefits Assistant, you will work with experienced professionals that manage and oversee a diverse portfolio of benefits programs offered to our employees, retirees, and their family members.  In this role you will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Perform a wide range of administrative duties, including but not limited to filing, responding to requests for information and preparing internal and external correspondence.
  • Schedule meetings and assist with benefit event planning, as required. Coordinate logistics and hosting for external visitors.
  • Compile sensitive correspondence, memos, letters and legal documents; edit materials for spelling, punctuation, grammar and formatting.
  • Schedule travel and prepare expense reports using Concur.
  • Review and accurately process department invoices and wire transfer requests. Track payments and follow up as needed.
  • Create and maintain accurate files and records.
  • Review and distribute departmental mail and support ad hoc mailings for the benefits team.
  • Research participant inquiries.
  • Perform a wide range of special projects as assigned.
  • Must be able to support multiple people within the functional area simultaneously.

Qualifications

To qualify you must meet the following criteria:

 

Education & Training Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required. AS/BS/BA and/or further college work is preferred. Additional education demonstrating continued learning and growth is strongly preferred. 

Experience Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience or education required. 

Other Requirements:

  • An excellent record of punctuality and attendance will be expected.
  • Possess a positive attitude, use discretion and good judgment in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be a team oriented individual and able to function as a proactive partner in a corporate environment.
  • Must possess demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively and courteously with people at all seniority levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work with little direction, set priorities, handle multiple tasks, take initiative and exercise professional judgment and discretion in executing tasks.
  • Must be willing to work in the office Monday through Friday during regular business hours and in emergencies as needed.
